New times and longer parking times – adjustment will be made gradually
In the coming weeks, the Science City of Darmstadt will be changing its parking management in the Martinsviertel Ost (WA1), Martinsviertel West (WA2), and Johannesviertel (JO) zones. In the future, parking will be managed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. instead of the previous 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. At the same time, the maximum permitted parking time will be extended from two to four hours.
The replacement of the signage begins this week. Afterward, around 70 parking ticket machines will be reprogrammed and provided with new fare information.
Background of the changeover
The adjustment is based on a resolution passed by the city council. Based on several years of practical experience, a structural realignment of parking space management became necessary. Among other things, the operating hours in several parking zones are to be standardized.
For this purpose, the machines must be adapted and relabeled, and the additional signs 1042 StVO (time information with weekday restrictions) at the zone entrances must be updated.
Further implementation in the districts
The Woogsviertel district has already been converted to the new system. Adjustments in the inner-city zones and the Bessungen East and North parking zones are now being implemented gradually.
