Exhibition with works by Annette Bischoff and Menno Fahl on view until 20 September
The new exhibition at Galerie Netuschil, “Pas-de-deux of Color,” which opened at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, is a double play between wall and space and a correspondence between the paintings of Annette Bischoff and the sculptures of Menno Fahl.
What we see is an exhibition of format, form, and cheerfulness, borne out by the material substance and the optical value of the color! The exhibition thrives on a positive and cheerful mood, which is essentially created by the color and is evident in the interplay of the two positions, large and small format.
Annette Bischoff discovered abstraction early on and has continued to explore new avenues in recent years. From small-scale painting and the combination of materials—sand and paint, for example—to the deliberate use of collage, her current paintings achieve a form of abstraction that is both large-scale and expansive and generous. Often applied in pastels and glazes, close to watercolors, the resulting color flows convey poetic pictorial narratives.

Menno Fahl follows an artistic path from the wall into the room and back again! He moves equally between painting and sculpture, between the second and third dimensions. The strong and indispensable connecting link is color. His sculptures arise from found objects from the world, which he constructively assembles and captures in color: heads, steles, curious creatures that combine wit and depth. He has realized some of his pictorial ideas in bronze and painted them! The consistency of the colored sculpture is a rare exception in contemporary sculpture.
