Farewell service on June 29th in the Bessungen church – 13 years of service in the Petrus parish in Darmstadt
After more than a decade at the Evangelical Petrus Parish in Darmstadt, Pastor Stefan Hucke bid farewell into retirement on Sunday, June 29. service of release , in which Provost Stephan Arras , Dean Dr. Raimund Wirth , and members of the church council will participate, will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Bessungen Church .
“It feels like I’m quitting ‘at full speed’,” says the 66-year-old, who had a full schedule until the very end – including several confirmations, Pentecost services and a move to his new home in Ober-Ramstadt.
A pastor with team spirit and commitment
Stefan Hucke was considered an approachable pastor whose goal was always to convey the Christian message in a vibrant and diverse way. He developed faith courses , designed special forms of worship , and was deeply committed to the musical accompaniment of church life – often actively participating himself on the saxophone. He delivered his sermons extemporaneously and regularly addressed his message to numerous church members via newsletter.
He always placed a special emphasis on youth work , which he further developed together with community educator Andreas Schitt. This led, among other things, to the successful Confirmation Team Initiative , in which former confirmands actively take on responsibility. He was equally passionate about the monthly lunch and the senior citizens' group "Petrusrunde" – an expression of his intergenerational approach.
Professional experience and outlook
Hucke grew up in Wiesbaden and studied theology and social work in Erlangen and Bochum. After his vicarage at St. Peter's Church, he took up his first pastorate in Schaafheim , where he served for 21 years, including 15 years as deputy dean. Since 2011, he has been working in Darmstadt again – the very place where he himself was once trained.
In recent years, Hucke has been particularly committed to cooperation with neighboring communities , most recently as project coordinator , and has promoted young people in the parish ministry as a teaching pastor and mentor.
Now a new chapter of his life begins. In Ober-Ramstadt, he and his wife plan to "make the most of their time without a fixed schedule," learn Russian, play music – and look back on a fulfilling period. "I certainly won't be bored," Hucke says with a smile. "It was a time for which I am very grateful."
