Former promotion hero makes a permanent move from FC Augsburg and will once again wear the Lilies jersey
SV Darmstadt 98 has brought back a familiar face: Patric Pfeiffer will bolster the Lilies' defense with immediate effect. The 25-year-old center-back, who previously played for Darmstadt from 2019 to 2023, returns permanently from FC Augsburg to the Böllenfalltor stadium. Pfeiffer will once again wear the number 6 jersey.
Return with experience and identification
Sporting director Paul Fernie is pleased with the signing: "We've been in talks for some time and are happy that it's finally worked out. Despite other offers, Patric consciously chose Darmstadt. He brings a wealth of experience and is also a player with potential for development."
Pfeiffer himself also looking forward to the return: "For me, it feels a bit like coming home. The talks with Paul Fernie and Florian Kohfeldt showed me that Darmstadt 98 is also the right step from a sporting perspective. I can hardly wait to get started again."
Achievements and milestones
In his first four years with Darmstadt 98, Pfeiffer made 85 competitive appearances , scoring four goals , and was a key figure in central defense during their promotion-winning 2022/23 season. Following their promotion to the Bundesliga, he moved to FC Augsburg, where he made twelve appearances. Last season, Pfeiffer was initially loaned to BSC Young Boys , before joining 1. FC Magdeburg .
With his return, SV 98 hopes for additional stability in defense and new impetus in the build-up play.
