Artists from the Groß-Gerau district will enrich the cultural program from August 22nd to 24th
"Volk im Schloss" festival , taking place from August 22nd to 24th, 2025 on the grounds of Dornberg Castle , will bring together international artists from Norway, Colombia, and England with regional talent from the Groß-Gerau district. The organizers are deliberately creating a stage for everyone – from swing trios to brass bands, from theater to participatory events.
Local acts with international flair
The opening act on Friday, August 22nd , will be "The Rubinettes" from Groß-Gerau. The trio, led by Barbara Wiebe, will present three-part harmonies in the style of the swing era – with classics by the Andrews Sisters and vintage versions of current pop songs.
On Saturday and Sunday, the BüchnerBühne Riedstadt, under the direction of Christian Suhr, the musical theatre piece "Babylon by Night – A Dance on the Volcano" . This production forgoes spoken words – the story is told exclusively through songs in the style of the 1920s, accompanied by the specially formed BabylonBrass Band .
Interactive activities, award ceremony and musical variety
The festival offers a wide range of activities for children and families:
- Balloon art with Rita Wiebe
- Face painting by the association Nestflüchter
- Games like Viking chess, giant Jenga and more are supervised by Auszeit e. V.
Sunday morning begins with the presentation of the Groß-Gerau district's cultural promotion prize , followed by a matinee concert by the Büttelborn brass band – featuring a musical cross-section of over 670 titles .
The grand finale on Sunday evening will be a high-energy concert by the Groß-Gerau rock band "Mission Possible ," bringing the festival to a close. Christian Döring from Worfelden will once again host the program.
Free admission – Festival supported by the South Hesse Cultural Summer
The festival is part of the South Hesse Cultural Summer and is supported by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art , the Savings Banks Cultural Foundation of Hesse and Thuringia, and LOTTO Hesse .
Admission and all program events are free of charge.
