From August 22nd to 24th, 2025, Dornberg Castle in Groß-Gerau will once again be transformed into a meeting place for music fans, families, and culture enthusiasts. The popular "Volk im Schloss" invites everyone to celebrate, dance, and socialize for three days with free admission – featuring a diverse program on several stages.
International and regional artists live at Dornberg Castle
A musical highlight is the performance by the Norwegian indie rock band Kakkmaddafakka , who are appearing in Groß-Gerau for the first time. Known for their energetic stage shows, the group will be performing songs such as " Forever Alone ," " Restless, and "Naked Blue ."
The Colombian band Doctor Krapula , a mainstay of the Latin American music scene, is also eagerly anticipated with their mix of punk, cumbia, ska, hip-hop, and reggae. Their socially conscious lyrics and captivating performance promise a unique concert experience.
Also appearing is Mannheim musician Gringo Mayer , who is currently attracting nationwide attention with songs in the Palatinate dialect and a charming retro stage presence. He will be supported by his "Kegelband" (bowling band).
British folk-punk band Skinny Lister , who thrilled audiences back in 2017, will be returning. Also taking the stage are the Music Monks , a nationally acclaimed tribute band to SEEED & Peter Fox will get the festival crowd moving with well-known songs like "Dickes B" , "Alles Neu" , and "Augenbling"
Cabaret, children's program and cultural diversity
In addition to concerts, the festival offers an extensive children's program , the traditional cabaret conference , and a performance by the BüchnerBühne Riedstadt . The lineup is rounded out by further regional and national acts. Admission to all events is free – a central tenet of the festival, ensuring cultural participation regardless of income.
Volk im Schloss sees itself as an open meeting place that promotes diversity – regardless of origin, language, religion, or sexual identity. The festival is part of the South Hesse Cultural Summer , funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art and supported by the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen (Savings Banks Cultural Foundation of Hesse and Thuringia ).
