Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor reaches 16th place in PETA's 2025 ranking
Darmstadt. The animal rights organization PETA has published its 15th ranking of the most vegan-friendly stadiums in the German Bundesliga – and for the first time since 2019, it has also included the 2nd Bundesliga. According to the organization, the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor , home of SV Darmstadt 98, in 16th place with 13 points – tied with 1. FC Heidenheim. PETA says this represents an improvement compared to last year (eight points).
According to PETA, plant-based kebabs, bowls, and hot dogs are among the vegan options available at the stadium. The evaluation was based on a survey of the clubs. Points were awarded for complete vegan meals such as falafel wraps or pasta dishes, while simple snacks like fries or pretzels received one point. Products such as chips, popcorn, or chocolate bars were not included in the evaluation.
According to PETA, FC Schalke 04 is the top-ranked club this year. Both first and second Bundesliga clubs were included in the ranking.
Background to the assessment
PETA views the analysis as part of its commitment to an animal-friendly lifestyle. The goal is to raise awareness of plant-based diets – both in everyday life and in professional sports. The organization's statement says that a vegan diet can "promote faster recovery after intense exertion" and also aligns with the desire of many fans for greater sustainability.
