Langheinz Art Gallery presents anniversary exhibition with original works and graphics
For half a century, he has been making people laugh with his cartoons: Peter Gaymann , one of Germany's best-known cartoonists, turns 75 this year and looks back on 50 years of creative work. To mark this anniversary, the Langheinz art gallery in Darmstadt an exhibition to the artist entitled "50 Years of Gaymann: Of Chickens and Other People" .

Gaymann became famous primarily for his iconic yellow chickens, which charmingly embody human foibles and everyday humor. Whether at a spa, playing sports, or enjoying a holiday roast, the characters hold a tongue-in-cheek mirror up to the viewer. But relationship problems, animals, and Christmas scenes are also part of his repertoire. He has created over 20,000 drawings and published 120 books
In Darmstadt, Gaymann is exhibiting limited-edition prints, unique pieces, and original works – a rarity, as many cartoonists now work exclusively digitally. "Originals are much more interesting for collectors. Museums and art dealers are delighted that I've preserved so many of them," the artist explains.
The exhibition opens with a private viewing on September 19, 2025 at 7 p.m. and will then be on display until October 18, 2025. Admission is free.
