Langheinz Art Gallery presents anniversary exhibition with originals and graphics
For half a century, he's been making people laugh with his drawn punchlines: Peter Gaymann , one of Germany's most famous cartoonists, turns 75 this year and looks back on 50 years of creativity. To mark this anniversary, the Langheinz art gallery in Darmstadt an exhibition to the artist entitled "50 Years of Gaymann: Of Chickens and Other People .

Gaymann became known primarily for his iconic yellow chickens, which charmingly embody human weaknesses and everyday humor. Whether at a spa, exercising, or enjoying a holiday roast, the figures hold a tongue-in-cheek mirror to the viewer. But couple problems, animals, and Christmas scenes are also part of his repertoire. He has now created 20,000 drawings and around 120 books
In Darmstadt, Gaymann will be showing limited-edition prints, unique pieces, and originals —a unique feature, as many cartoonists today work exclusively digitally. "Originals are much more interesting for collectors. Museums and art dealers are pleased that I've preserved many of them," explains the artist.
The exhibition opens with a vernissage on September 19, 2025, at 7 p.m. and will then be on view until October 18, 2025. Admission is free.
