Christmas wish tree inspires great willingness to donate – local support creates urgently needed storage space
As the Pfungstadt animal shelter reports, this year's Christmas wish tree campaign an exceptionally high response. A festively decorated tree adorned with the animals' wish lists has been generating considerable public interest for weeks. "It's incredible how quickly the wish lists are being picked from the tree," says shelter manager Julia Michlin .
Large amount of donations – but little space
This year's supply of donated food is particularly large, expected to last for an entire quarter. However, like many animal shelters, Pfungstadt is also facing the familiar problem of a lack of storage space . Hallways, offices, and areas intended for the animals are currently being used as temporary solutions.
Entrepreneurial support from Griesheim
This is where a local initiative comes in: The self-service warehouse Friedrich Friedrich from Griesheim is providing the animal shelter with a free drive-in storage unit – worth around 1500 euros .
Managing Director Ralf Stößel explains:
“We want the animal shelter team to focus their energy where it is most urgently needed: with the animals. That's why we are happy to provide the necessary space.”
The drive-in solution is particularly convenient: Donations can be driven directly to the box by car and stored safely, dry and accessible at all times.
“Worth its weight in gold”: Relief at the animal shelter
Animal shelter manager Michlin is grateful:
“The support from Friedrich Friedrich is invaluable. We are truly happy that we can now store the tremendous flood of donations so easily and safely.”
The cooperation is considered an example of corporate responsibility and shows how local stakeholders can make an important contribution with pragmatic solutions.
