Vytautas Butkus' exhibition showcases impressive motifs from nature, city and everyday life
As part of the nationwide European Weeks, an impressive photo exhibition by Lithuanian artist Vytautas Butkus on display at the art gallery at the Büchnerhaus until May 31. The show is entitled "A Broadening of Perspectives" and was organized in cooperation with the city's cultural office and the partner associations "Friends of Tauragė" and "Friends of Germany".
The opening of the exhibition on April 30, the first day of European Weeks, was accompanied by music performed by students from the Private Lithuanian Gymnasium in Hüttenfeld. First City Councillor Ottmar Eberling welcomed the guests and emphasized the long-standing and vibrant town twinning between Riedstadt and Tauragė.
Vytautas Butkus was born in Tauragė in 1958 and has been a member of the Lithuanian Photographers' Association since 2005. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Lithuania, Poland, Kaliningrad, and the USA. In 2024, he received the "Golden Frame" in the "Life" category at the Lithuanian Press Photography competition.
The exhibition presents a selection of landscape, architectural, and portrait photographs from Lithuania and other countries. Butkus combines impressive lighting effects with strong image composition. Thematically, the show is divided into the sections "Nature and Environment," "City and Countryside," and "People and Landscape.".
A special highlight: On International Museum Day May 18, the exhibition will briefly on display at Rennhof Castle in Hüttenfeld , home to the Lithuanian Gymnasium. From May 20, it will return to the Büchner House , where it will remain open until May 31 .
