Lecture by BUND and Volkshochschule on February 5th in Darmstadt
How can you use your own roof as a solar power plant? This question will be addressed in a lecture by the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) and the Darmstadt Adult Education Center (VHS) on Thursday, February 5, 2026. It starts at 6:30 p.m.
Under the title "Generating and Using Your Own Solar Power – Your Own Roof as a Solar Power Plant," the focus is on current possibilities for the economical use of photovoltaic systems. Technological advancements now make solar panels a viable option for almost all roofs. In addition, recent legal changes and the funding program offered by the City of Darmstadt are making photovoltaics more attractive for multi-family buildings as well.
The presentation will explain the importance of renewable energies for climate protection, funding programs, costs, and the technical basics of photovoltaic systems. In addition, volunteers from the citizen solar advisory service will share their experiences and demonstrate how homeowners can be supported on their path to installing their own PV system.
The free event will take place at the BUND Center for Urban Nature at Klappacher Straße 27 in Darmstadt (access via the Orangerie, first gate on the left). The lecture will also be online via the BUND Darmstadt website .
