Mayor Akdeniz and City Councillor Kolmer emphasize the importance of diversity and social cohesion
The Pallaswiesen/Mornewegviertel Cooperation Group (PaMo), together with the Caritas Association Darmstadt e. V. and with the support of the City of Darmstadt, "Picnic and Festival on the Pallaswiesen" Friday, September 5, 2025 , from 3 pm to 6 pm . The aim is to promote encounters and strengthen exchange within the neighborhood.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: “The creation of a space here to strengthen connections among the residents of the neighborhood is fantastic. It's important to us to highlight the diversity of the district.” City Councilor Michael Kolmer adds: “The Pallaswiesen meadows offer space for encounters and recreation right in the heart of the neighborhood. With its nature-oriented, safe, and climate-friendly design, PaMo can contribute to sustainable urban development.”
Program and schedule
The program includes children's games, crafts, and hands-on activities for families. A special highlight is the appearance of the Falcons' mobile outreach van . Guests are asked to bring their own blanket, food, and drinks. Seating will be available for those who cannot or do not wish to sit on blankets. Water will be provided.
In case of rain, the festival will be postponed to September 12, 2025 .
Background: Urban development in PaMo
Since 2014, PaMo has been part of the federal and state urban development funding program "Social City" or "Social Cohesion ." The goal is to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. At the festival, residents can talk to representatives of the cooperation group and contribute their own ideas for the residential area.
The cooperation group includes, among others: BAFF-Frauen-Kooperation gGmbH, bauverein AG, Regionale Diakonie e. V., DRK-Kreisverband Darmstadt Stadt e. V., Evonik, Internationaler Bund e. V., Kinder- und Jugendarbeit e. V. Darmstadt, Kindertagesstätte Friedrich-Fröbel-Haus, Kindertagesstätte St. Fidelis, Kooperation Asyl GbR, Neue Wohnraumhilfe gGmbH, Werkhof Darmstadt e. V., PaSo gGmbH, the Caritasverband Darmstadt e. V. and the City of Darmstadt.
