Mayor Akdeniz and Councillor Kolmer emphasize the importance of diversity and social cohesion
The Pallaswiesen-/Mornewegviertel Cooperation Group (PaMo), together with the Caritas Association Darmstadt e.V. and with the support of the Science City of Darmstadt, invites "Picnic and Festival on the Pallaswiesen" Friday, September 5, 2025 , from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The goal is to promote encounters and strengthen exchange in the neighborhood.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: "It's a great thing that this initiative is being created to strengthen contact among the neighborhood's residents. It's important to us to focus on the neighborhood's diversity." City Councilor Michael Kolmer adds: "The Pallaswiesen offer space for encounters and recreation in the heart of the neighborhood. With nature-oriented, safe, and climate-friendly planning, the PaMo can contribute to sustainable urban development."
Program and schedule
The supporting program includes children's games, crafts, and hands-on activities for families. A special highlight is the Falcons' Friendship Mobile . Guests are asked to bring their own blankets, as well as food and drinks. Seating is available for those unable or unwilling to sit on blankets. Water will be provided.
In case of rain, the festival will be postponed to September 12, 2025 .
Background: District development in PaMo
Since 2014, the PaMo has been part of the federal and state urban development funding program "Social City" or "Social Cohesion ." The goal is to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. At the festival, residents can engage with representatives of the cooperative and contribute their own ideas for the residential area.
The cooperation group includes, among others: BAFF Women's Cooperation gGmbH, bauverein AG, Regionale Diakonie e. V., DRK District Association Darmstadt City e. V., Evonik, Internationaler Bund e. V., Children and Youth Work e. V. Darmstadt, Friedrich-Fröbel-Haus Daycare Center, St. Fidelis Daycare Center, Cooperation Asyl GbR, Neue Wohnungshilfe gGmbH, Werkhof Darmstadt e. V., PaSo gGmbH, the Caritas Association Darmstadt e. V. and the Science City of Darmstadt.
