Darmstadt should become climate -like and more alive
On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, two of the trees donated by the Darmstadt community foundation were planted in Seitersweg near the Rosenhöhe. It is an apple and a pear tree. The planting was supported by the tree nursing column of the green space office, which in addition to the production of the tree pits, took care of the necessary materials and tools for successful tree planting.
Grüna -area -wide Michael Kolmer: “Every tree we plant is a gift to the next generations. I expressly thank the Darmstadt community for the eleven gifts! With this generous donation, the Darmstadt community foundation helps to make Darmstadt climate silver and make it more alive. In addition to numerous ecological functions, the new trees offer habitats for many animals. ”
“For us, it is very important to set a visible sign for the future of Darmstadt with this donation. Local fruit trees contribute to improving air quality and creating a pleasant urban climate. At the same time, they enable young people to experience up close how fruits grow in their area, ”emphasize Dr. Markus Hoschek, chairman of the Darmstadt community, and Senta Kahrhof, also on the board of the Darmstadt community foundation.
“With every tree donation we want to make a contribution to our homeland. Enriching and supporting Darmstadt and thus their citizens is an essential task for us. We were able to implement this very clearly with the donation campaign of the green area office of the science city of Darmstadt, ”adds Gerd Wieber, Managing Director of the Darmstadt community.
Citizens can symbolically donate a tree for 400 euros through the "Donation Tree" campaign. The donations help support urban plantings.
