Over 3,400 euros in donations for new trees in the Goddelau field
Riedstadt. Following the deliberate poisoning of ten trees in the Goddelau fields this spring – including the listed, over 200-year-old Karl Spengler Oak and the Isler Oak – Riedstadt is experiencing an impressive outpouring of solidarity. Public sympathy is strong: numerous citizens have donated to make a statement for nature and environmental protection.
After the crime, the Büchnerstadt community of Riedstadt a complaint against an unknown person and offered a reward of €500 for information leading to the perpetrators. To meet the public's strong desire to donate, the city decided to increase the reward by the donations received. More than €3,400 collected – most recently through a campaign by the Goller Alt-Kerweborsch , who distributed seedlings in exchange for donations during the Kerwe parade and contributed around €600.
Thanks to the city and the prospect of possible new plantings
The city will thus increase the reward amount to approximately €4,000 . "The tremendous sympathy and civic engagement are a strong sign that the people of Riedstadt care about their nature," the city hall said.
If no perpetrator has been identified after one year, the city plans to use the total amount of donations new landscape-defining trees in Goddelau autumn 2026 .
