Focus on commercial passenger transport and human smuggling in southern Hesse
Darmstadt – Police and customs officials conducted a large-scale traffic control operation on the A5 and A67 motorways near Darmstadt on Tuesday (July 15). The aim was to monitor commercial passenger traffic and to check the identities of people entering and transiting the area.
, nine long-distance buses and 21 cars were among the vehicles inspected at the South Hesse Highway Patrol Station. The officers were supported by the Hessian riot police and customs officials, who used a mobile X-ray machine for baggage screening. The vehicles in question were escorted from the highway to the inspection site by the police.
15 violations detected – €2000 security deposit
During the checks, a total of 15 violations were detected , including offenses related to immigration law. Security deposits of €2,000 required to secure certain investigations.
27-year-old man from Serbia attracted attention on a long-distance bus ; he is suspected of illegally in the Schengen Area . Initial findings indicate he has exceeded the permitted stay of 90 days. The police have launched an investigation.
Suspected fraud involving fake gold
Furthermore, plainclothes officers stopped a vehicle with two women and two men aged between 26 and 38 who were allegedly attempting counterfeit gold jewelry on the highway, claiming to be in dire need . During a search of the vehicle, the officers discovered several items purported to be gold chains and rings . The four individuals were taken into custody .
The South Hesse police announced that they will continue to conduct targeted checks against human smuggling, attempted fraud and violations in commercial passenger transport.
