75-year-old loses over 4000 euros to unknown perpetrators
More and more fraudsters use the so -called “grandchildren trick” in modern variants to get the money of unsuspecting people. As the police headquarters South Hesse reports, a 75-year-old man from Mörfelden-Walldorf was now the victim of a perfidious fraud. He lost over 4000 euros to unknown perpetrators.
WhatsApp fraud: perpetrators use trust
The incident began with a harmless WhatsApp message: “Hello mom and dad, my cell phone is broken. This is my new number. " In the belief that his daughter communicates, the man transferred money twice. It was only at a third money claim that he became suspicious and recognized the fraud. At that time, however, the perpetrators had already disappeared with the money.

The police urgently warn against this fraud stitch and call up older people in particular for caution. The police headquarters South Hesse advises to protect itself:
- Be suspicious if you are contacted by an unknown number.
- Do not save third -party numbers and try to reach the well -known person on a different way.
- Contact relatives or friends to check the authenticity of such messages.
- They become skeptical as soon as money claims are in the room and do not let yourself be put under pressure.
- Pay attention to the choice of words and check whether the writing style fits the supposed person.
