Repeated thefts from unlocked vehicles
Police are once again issuing a strong warning against using vehicles as storage places for valuables. Recent cases in Bischofsheim and Flörsheim demonstrate how quickly thieves can strike when bags, wallets, or electronic devices are visibly left in cars.
"Empty your car before someone else does," investigators urge. Criminals are actively seeking opportunities – often a quick glance inside the vehicle is enough. Even a seemingly harmless item, like a jacket on the seat or a backpack in the footwell, can attract thieves. In many cases, they first check if any doors are unlocked. If they find something of value, it only takes seconds for it to be stolen.
The police therefore recommend:
- Always lock vehicles, even if you are only leaving for a short time.
- Do not leave any valuables visibly in the car.
- Report any unusual observations immediately via the emergency number 110.
Anyone who witnesses a crime should immediately notify the police – a direct confrontation with the perpetrators must be avoided at all costs.
