Repeated thefts from unlocked vehicles
The police are once again issuing a strong warning against using vehicles as storage for valuables. Recent cases in Bischofsheim and Flörsheim demonstrate how quickly thieves can seize bags, wallets, or technical devices that are visible in cars.
"Empty your car before others do," the investigators urge. Criminals are specifically looking for opportunities – often a quick glance inside the car is enough. Even a seemingly harmless item, like a jacket on the seat or a backpack in the footwell, can attract criminals. In many cases, they first check whether the doors are unlocked. If they then find something valuable, it only takes seconds until it's stolen.
The police therefore recommend:
- Always lock your vehicle, even if you are only away for a short time.
- Do not leave any valuables visible in the car.
- Report any unusual observations immediately via emergency number 110.
Anyone who witnesses a crime should notify the police immediately – direct confrontation with the perpetrators should be avoided at all costs.
