Shipping of the election notifications
The election notifications for the election of the 21st German Bundestag on Sunday, February 23, 2025, will be sent to all citizens entitled to vote in Darmstadt by Saturday, February 1, 2025.
On the back, the election notification contains a form that can be used to apply for postal voting documents. All Germans are entitled to vote within the meaning of Article 116 paragraph 1 of the Basic Law, which have reached the age of 18 on election day, i.e. on February 23, 2007 or earlier and are not excluded from the right to vote. Anyone who has received no election notification by February 1, 2025 will be entitled to vote will be asked to contact the election office by Friday, February 7, 2025 at the latest (Tel.: 06151 13-3007).
Postal vote
Due to the shortened deadlines of the early election, the postal election period is just under two weeks before the election day. For this reason and because of the postal times, the science city of Darmstadt recommends going to the constituency of the constituency of 185 on the election day and submitting their vote at the ballot box. Citizens who still want to choose by postal vote are asked to note the following: Postal voting documents can be requested by post, by email or online. Those who choose this path are expressly asked to take the postal time of several days into account and apply for postal voting documents at an early stage. A postal period of several days can also be expected when returning the election letter to the election office. Alternatively, election letters can be handed in personally in the election office or thrown into the mailbox of the citizens' and regulatory office (Luisenplatz 5, 64283 Darmstadt).
In addition, voters can personally audition in the postal voting office of the election office (Luisenplatz 5, 64283 Darmstadt, 2nd floor, switch 15 and 16) without prior appointment, receive postal voting documents and personally (by postal voting). In addition to the election notification, the ID card or other ID document must be presented.
The science city of Darmstadt recommends to anyone who cannot vote on the urn on election day to apply for their postal voting documents directly in the postal voting office and use the possibility of choosing on site to make use of the punctual receipt of the election letter to the election office. The possibility of applying by post, email or online will be advised at the latest from Tuesday, February 18, 2025, since it cannot be ensured that postal voting documents will be on the post on time before the election day.
The postal voting office will be opened from Monday, January 13, 2025, to accept postal voting applications. The handing over of postal voting documents can generally be made, even if they are requested by post, by email or online, at the earliest from Monday, February 3, 2025. In order to simplify the election in the postal voting office to the citizens, the postal voting office is also open on Saturday, February 8, 2025, and Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
