The city of Darmstadt reports all-clear regarding blue-green algae levels
The city of Darmstadt, a center of science and research , reports that the water quality of the Prinz von Hessen quarry has significantly improved. Current measurements show that cyanobacteria levels are now below the official warning thresholds. This means the quarry can once again be used without restrictions or special precautions.
Head of Parks and Green Spaces Michael Kolmer emphasized: “This positive development is a success for all of us. Last year, we initiated various measures together with experts to curb the spread of cyanobacteria. In addition to the weather conditions, these efforts are now also bearing fruit.”
Kolmer thanked all those involved, as well as the citizens, for their cooperation and patience. "With their efforts, everyone has contributed to making the Prinz von Hessen mine fully usable again," said the department head.
Water quality will continue to be regularly monitored to ensure the long-term sustainability of this positive trend. Furthermore, the implemented measures will be continuously reviewed and adjusted as needed.
