Two youth players are promoted to the professional squad of the Lilies
SV Darmstadt 98 has signed youth players Milian Herbst and Manolo Merx to professional contracts.
Both talents are expected to be part of the professional squad of the Lilies next season.
SV 98 continues to rely on young talents
Sporting director Paul Fernie sees the development of the two players as confirmation of the chosen path.
“Both Manolo and Milian have made very positive progress in recent months and have shown good performances in the Hessenliga,” Fernie explains.
The two young players are exemplary of the club's strategy of utilizing talents in the men's team at an early stage.
Already in use with the professionals in autumn
18-year-old Milian Herbst already completed training sessions with the professional team last season and also played in several test matches.
The midfielder has made 27 appearances for Darmstadt's U21 team in the Hessenliga so far, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.
Merx makes his debut for the U18 national team
Manolo Merx also impressed in the U21 team of SV 98. The attacking player was promoted from the U19 team at the beginning of the year and has since collected 14 scorer points in twelve Hessenliga appearances.
