Event series for young people focuses on creativity, sensory experiences and exchange – kick-off on May 10th
With the "Rauschzeit" , the Darmstadt addiction prevention center of Netzwerk ROPE eV is launching an innovative approach to addiction prevention in public spaces. The aim is to directly engage teenagers and young adults in their everyday lives – in parks, squares, or at events. The project is funded by the City of Darmstadt.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: “ This innovative project opens up new spaces for young people to experience. It allows them to feel intensely, to experience themselves as alive, and to discover new things – completely without alcohol and drugs. ”
Creative formats: "Information Time" and "Intoxication Time"
The project includes two formats:
- "Information Time" : During the warmer months, a trained team offers easily accessible, engaging information about addiction, substance use, and alternatives. " Besides providing information, listening is particularly important to us. Only in this way can we further develop our prevention work in a targeted manner ," explains Michelle Denk from the Addiction Prevention Center.
- "Rauschzeit" ( : Here, the focus is on sensory experiences. Music, movement, art, and mindfulness are intended to enable intense feelings and so-called flow states – without the use of addictive substances.
Opening event and dates
The event series kicks off on May 10th with a screening of the film "Intoxicating Emotions in Religions and Cultures" at the Krone , followed by a discussion with cultural studies scholar Isis Mrugalla-Kalmbacher. Mayor Barbara Akdeniz will officially open the series.

- May 17, 3–6 p.m. – “Rush in Form” : Nitrous oxide sculpture workshop, Herrngarten
- June 5, 3–6 p.m. – “Rap in the Box” : Live workshop with Danny Fresh, White Tower (Castle Moat Festival)
- June 21, 2–6 pm – “Smell and Taste – A Sensory Journey” : with Aslı Özdemir, Orangerie
- July 26th and 27th, 2–5 pm – “FlowMotion” : Dance workshop, Bürgerpark (Yoga meadow)
- August 16th and 17th, 2–3 pm & 5–6 pm – Play “High – Someone always has something wrong” , Adventure playground
- September 13th and 14th, 4–6 pm – Performance “Eukaryota” with Tessy Bemtgen & Anna Wiebke Färber, Georg-Büchner-Platz
Target group : Young people and young adults between 14 and 27 years old.
