Lower nature conservation authority calls for compliance with the regulations in nature conservation and recreational areas
With spring, many people are drawn outside again - for walking, jogging or with the dog. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Groß-Gerau district recalls that special rules apply in the numerous protected areas to protect the sensitive habitats and endangered species.
It plays a role in which protective area type it is. There are several categories in the Groß-Gerau district:
- Nature reserves (NSG): Here the protection of natural landscapes is in the foreground. The rules are particularly strict.
- Landscape protection areas (LSG): serve to preserve ecologically valuable, but also culturally shaped landscapes.
- Protected landscape components (GLB): smaller areas such as orchards or hedges with high ecological importance.
- Natura 20000 areas: Part of a Europe-wide protection system with special focus on endangered species and habitats.
Regardless of the category, these areas are retreats for plants and animals - and at the same time relaxation for people. Compliance with the rules is therefore not only required by law, but a contribution to the preservation of biodiversity.
Rules in nature reserves
Nature reserves can be seen in a circle on a green sign with a sea eagle. The following rules apply there:
- Only signposted paths may be entered.
- Vehicles must not drive in or park.
- Removing or exposing animals and plants is prohibited.
- Dogs must be led on a leash.
- Grilling, camping and open fire are prohibited.
- Garbage must be taken away.
There are also restrictions in landscape protection areas, protected landscape components and Natura 2000 areas, depending on the protection status. For example, removing plants, driving on vehicles or changes in the landscape are prohibited.
Failure possible for violations
Anyone who violates the applicable rules must expect a fine. The lower nature conservation authority therefore asks all visitors to consideration. This is the only way to maintain nature for future generations.
