Award for Nordbad and DSW outdoor pool recognizes social contribution
As the city of Darmstadt announced, the Nordbad and the DSW outdoor pool the prestigious "Public Value Award" by the German Association for Bathing Facilities (Deutsche Gesellschaft für das Badewesen e.V.) . In the category of combined indoor/outdoor pools the Nordbad achieved third place – thus ranking among the public pools in Germany that make a special contribution to the common good and social cohesion .
Award for Quality of Life and Community
The "Public Value Award" has been presented since 2010 to public swimming pools that, in addition to their leisure and sports offerings, make an outstanding contribution to quality of life , health promotion , and social integration . The evaluation is based on the so-called "Public Value Scorecard ," which considers criteria such as community cohesion, ethical conduct, economic efficiency , and the equitable fulfillment of responsibilities .
With this award, the jury recognizes swimming pools that are far more than just places to swim: they are meeting places , promote recreational sports , and strengthen community spirit . At the same time, they create a foundation for elite sports and shape the cultural life of the municipality.
Recognition for the Darmstadt swimming pool team
Mayor and Head of Sports Hanno Benz was delighted with the award:
"This award is a recognition of the work of our swimming pool team and proof that our pools are far more than just places to swim. They are meeting places for people of all generations, promote health, community and quality of life – and make a significant contribution to cohesion in our city."
The city sees the award as an incentive to continue promoting important places for health, encounters and integration
