Historical novel about adventure, faith and repentance – event on August 17th at the local history museum
Biebesheim reading matinee at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Reinhold Kittelberger, originally from Gernsheim, will present his historical novel "The Reinoldus Saga – The Sinner and the Saint." The story centers on the adventurous life of the knight Renaud, who embarks on a moving journey between East and West in the 8th century.
From Knight Renaud to Saint Reinoldus
The story begins with the knight Renaud, who, after perilous journeys to the Abbasid Caliphate, the Holy Land, and Rome, finally settles at the imperial estate of Gerinsheim. There, he recounts his adventures in nightly tales. He falls in love and marries—but fate takes him further: After an imperial penance, he is compelled to work on the construction of Cologne Cathedral and eventually meets his uncle—the emperor himself—in Aquisgranum, present-day Aachen. His journey, however, is not without its dangers. Battles, intrigues, love, and loyalty shape the narrative, which paints a vivid picture of the early Middle Ages.
