Stories and Kamishibai theatre on November 21st for children aged three and up.
Darmstadt. Under the motto "Reading aloud speaks your language," the nationwide Reading Aloud Day will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025. The aim of the event is to highlight the importance of reading aloud in society and to inspire children to love books from an early age. Reading Aloud Day is a joint initiative of DIE ZEIT , the Reading Foundation , and the Deutsche Bahn Foundation .
main branch of the city library in the Justus Liebig House also participating in the event and invites children aged three and up to an afternoon of story time . Between 1:30 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. , exciting stories and Kamishibai theater performances will be presented. Participation is free .
Reading aloud as a key to education
“Everyone knows that reading is educational. To encourage children to read, we need to show them how much fun it is,” emphasizes Holger Klötzner, Head of Education . “The city library offers a fantastic range of resources – and I would like to encourage all parents to take advantage of them.”
With this campaign, the city library is once again participating in a nationwide initiative that aims to demonstrate that reading aloud promotes education, language and community .
