Public readings at the Literature House – numerous other activities in kindergartens and schools
The city of Darmstadt, a center of science and research, has announced that it will once again participate in the nationwide Reading Aloud Day on Friday, November 21st. Under this year's motto, "Reading Aloud Speaks Your Language," a variety of readings will take place in daycare centers, schools, and public spaces.
Public readings at the Literaturhaus Darmstadt
The Literaturhaus Darmstadt invites several kindergarten groups – including the daycare centers Meißnerweg , TU City Hüpfer , Thomasstraße , Selma-Lagerlöf-Haus , Rasp-Nuri-Haus and Kita Koch'sches Haus .
Read there:
- 9:00 a.m.: Dr. Markus Hoschek, Chairman of the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation
- 10:00 a.m.: Mayor and Head of Cultural Affairs Hanno Benz
- 11:00 a.m.: Zoo educator Dr. Frank Velte
The readings are open to the public and can be attended by anyone interested. In addition, the registered kindergarten groups will receive six book boxes sponsored by the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation.
Private readings in kindergartens and schools
- City Councillor Michael Kolmer reads "The Rainbow Fish" bilingually at the Christian-Morgenstern-School.
- City Councillor Paul Georg Wandrey reads at the Nachtweide daycare center , City Councillor Holger Klötzner at the Ludwig-Schwamb-School .
- Due to a scheduling conflict, Mayor Barbara Akdeniz the bilingual book “Das kleine WIR” / “Kücük BIZ” at the Selma-Lagerlöf-Haus daycare center December 4th

Many daycare centers and schools organize additional reading sessions:
- The Rasp-Nuri-Haus daycare center offers multilingual reading sessions together with parents as well as language tandem readings (German+).
- The Meißnerweg daycare center is conducting a reading project with students from the IGS Kranichstein school .
- EAD Darmstadt is participating in the Siebenstein daycare center .
