Join in now: Count partridges, report old apple trees and more
With the first birdsong and the blossoming harbingers of spring, the fieldwork of the Groß-Gerau District Landscape Conservation Association begins. While municipal contracts end with the start of the breeding season, the partridge monitoring program picks up speed. There are also updates from the office and exciting opportunities for nature lovers to get involved.
New employee strengthens the landscape conservation association
Dennis Klintworth recently joined the team at the Landscape Conservation Association as part of the project "Save the Partridge – Promote Diversity!" . The Oldenburg native brings extensive experience in the protection of ground-nesting birds. In addition to his work on the project, he will also be involved in municipal tasks. The association warmly welcomes him!
Partridge monitoring runs until March 31, 2025
This year's mapping of partridge populations began on February 21, 2025. Volunteers and staff of the landscape conservation association are already actively involved. New this year is the use of the NaturaList app or the option to subsequently enter data at ornitho.de . This serves the purpose of long-term data collection beyond the scope of the federal project, which runs until May 2029.
Those wishing to support the monitoring project have until March 31, 2025. The earlier you participate, the greater the chance of spotting calling partridges before mating. For questions, please contact Dr. Sabrina Backhaus by phone at +49 151 58768231 or by email at sabrina.backhaus@lpv-gg.de .
