Safe connection between Eberstadt and Eberstadt train station
The city of Darmstadt and Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB InfraGO AG recently concluded a planning agreement for the renovation of the listed Pfungstädter Straße railway overpass in Darmstadt. In addition, the construction of a new railway underpass for a combined pedestrian and cycle path parallel to the B426 is planned, directly adjacent to the existing overpass.
The new construction also includes all necessary connection work. "With this agreement, we are creating the foundation for a safe connection between Eberstadt and Eberstadt train station," explains Head of Mobility Paul Georg Wandrey. "The construction of the pedestrian and cycle path will end a situation that is not only perceived as unsafe, but actually unsafe."
The implementation of these technically demanding renovation and new construction projects is carried out in phases and in close coordination between the partners involved. The coordination of railway and road construction, as well as the associated connecting trades, is carefully planned to ensure efficient and smooth execution. Particular attention is paid to guaranteeing safety throughout the entire construction period. The measures are organized in such a way that railway operations and road traffic can be maintained as far as possible during the construction work.
