Local government supervisory authorities and the Ministry of the Interior are exchanging information on the financial situation of municipalities.
Darmstadt. regional conference of local government supervisory authorities took place on Thursday at the Darmstadt Regional Council . Regional President Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt welcomed representatives from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, for Security and Homeland Security , the local government supervisory authorities of the southern Hessian districts , and the specialist department of the Darmstadt Regional Council to the Wilhelminenhaus for a professional exchange.
"The financial situation of municipalities remains largely strained," Hilligardt explained. It is therefore particularly important that state supervisory authorities at all levels work closely together to provide the best possible support to municipalities.
Focus on budget approvals and financial equalization
The conference focused on approval procedures in the current fiscal year , current legal requirements from the Ministry of the Interior for 2026, and municipal financial equalization . The aim of the annual meetings is to ensure the uniform application of legal regulations and to promote professional exchange between authorities.
Representatives of the districts also had the opportunity to discuss technical questions directly with the local government supervisory authority of the Darmstadt Regional Council
