Delegation from France presents gift in the new community center Georgenhausen/Zeilhard
friendship bench was presented during a five-day visit by a twelve-member delegation from its French twin town of Cestas . The guests, many of whom have been active since the beginning of the 43-year-old town twinning, described their trip as a "journey of alumni." Together with more than 15 members of the Reinheim twinning association, they enjoyed a varied program of events with numerous encounters and conversations.
Champagne reception in the new community center
A highlight of the visit was the reception by Mayor Manuel Feick at the new community center in Georgenhausen/Zeilhard. There, the guests were welcomed with a champagne reception. During this event, the Cestas Twinning Committee presented two commemorative plaques for the new friendship bench, which were brought as a gift and as a symbol of the long-standing connection. The bilingual plaques – in German and French – underscore the European character of the partnership.
The bank as a lasting symbol of connection
The bench has now been placed to the side of the new community center. It serves as a visible symbol of the friendship between Reinheim and Cestas, inviting passersby to linger and commemorating the decades-long partnership between the two towns.
Retrospective and significance of the partnership
Mayor Manuel Feick emphasized the personal significance of the meeting:
"It was interesting for me to learn how it all began and how the friendship with Cestas, which has now lasted half a century, has developed."
The exchange strengthens the close relationship between the two cities and shows how vibrant the partnership remains even after 43 years.
