The city points to safety risks and refers to alternative disposal sites
The city of Reinheim , starting January 1, 2026, the municipal depot will no longer accept deliveries of recyclable materials from private individuals several safety-related incidents and current conditions that no longer guarantee the safe storage and handling of recyclable materials.
Recyclable materials and electronic waste will need to be disposed of differently in the future
Private individuals can continue to drop off their recyclables at the Roßdorf recycling center .
Electronic waste can also be disposed of at the Azur company in Mühltal for free collection twice a year through the Zweckverband Abfallverwertung (Waste Management Association ) after prior registration .

The current practice of collecting electronic waste, batteries, and light bulbs at the municipal depot does not comply with the safety regulations Several dangerous situations have occurred in recent months :

Mayor Feick: "Safety takes priority"
“We did not make this decision lightly, as it was a service we offered our citizens locally, even though we were not legally obligated to do so,” explains Mayor Manuel Feick .
“However, for the safety of citizens, employees, and the city's infrastructure, this is the right decision.”
