Mobile units for three city districts – large fixed unit planned for 2026
The city of Reinheim has announced that three new mobile emergency power generators have been purchased for the fire stations in Georgenhausen/Zeilhard, Spachbrücken, and Ueberau. Additionally, a high-performance, stationary generator is planned for installation at the Reinheim fire station in 2026. The goal is to ensure the fire department's operational readiness and the provision of services to the population during crisis situations.
Safe operation during power outages
The mobile generators enable continuous emergency operation at the respective fire stations. This ensures that communication, lighting, operational coordination, and the transmission of vital information remain possible even during power outages. The Reinheim station will receive a more powerful generator because it houses central workshops for all fire stations and therefore has a higher energy demand. This also allows for the maintenance of general operational readiness.
Preparation for prolonged crisis situations
The generators are gasoline-powered and, with sufficient fuel supply, can provide power for extended periods. This ensures that fire stations are prepared for prolonged power outages. The city of Reinheim describes the acquisition as an important step in crisis preparedness: The fire stations are intended to be reliable points of contact and "safe havens" for the population in emergency situations.
