Completion of the four construction phases – city relies on youth participation
The skate park at the Reinheim sports center is fully operational again. After being closed in 2020 due to structural defects, it has now been modernized in four phases. With the final installation of a ramp at the end of April, the reconstruction is complete – skaters can once again use the facility to its full extent.
Mayor Manuel Feick recalls the initial situation: “At the time, there was talk of keeping the facility permanently closed. However, the committees decided to rebuild this recreational facility in four phases.” Street worker Jörg Hilsenbek , being responsible for both the conceptual planning and the practical construction. He was assisted in building the final ramp by Sven Bügler from the Reinheim Sports Center.
“From the very beginning, it was important to us to involve young people in the planning and to accommodate their wishes as much as possible,” Feick emphasizes. The result is a modern facility that is very well received by the skater community.
Consideration for safe coexistence
The city points out a few rules of conduct to ensure safety at the facility. Mutual consideration on the ramps . Small children should not play unsupervised between the modules. Playing football on the asphalt surfaces is also prohibited, as it can lead to dangerous situations. Only if everyone follows these simple rules can a safe and relaxing leisure experience be guaranteed.
