Darmstadt 98 and Entega are using the largest photovoltaic system in Darmstadt
SV Darmstadt 98 had around 2,900 photovoltaic modules installed on an area of almost 5,900 photovoltaic modules on the roofs of the main grandstand and the opposite straight line of the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfall goal.
The photovoltaic system is almost as large as the lawn. The facility was now able to go into operation in mid-March and has an output of around 1,200 kWp and is therefore the largest photovoltaic system in Darmstadt. In terms of mathematical, 450 households could be supplied with green electricity annually. Compared to the German electricity mix, around 840 tons of CO2 are avoided every year.

The SV 98 can use the green electricity that the system produces directly in the stadium. According to calculation of the Entega, around 46 percent of the electricity produced with the photovoltaic system can be used directly in the stadium. The other electricity can be used for the neighboring functional building. Not electricity that is used by SV 98 itself is fed into the distribution network of the E-Netz southern Hesse via the Entega as an eco-current and thus goes to the Darmstadt households.
Dr. Marie-Luise Wolff, chair of the board of Entega, said: “The sustainable expansion of generation plants for renewables must continue to be promoted quickly with large steps. Since the approval periods for the construction of wind turbines are unfortunately very lengthy, the photovoltaics will also have to be increasingly being used in the future. The lilies and us combine a long -term partnership, which is now also intensified in photovoltaics. Via a permanently interest -bearing subordinate loan, we offer everyone interested the opportunity to actively invest in the energy transition and to participate financially. ”
“Sustainable club culture is firmly anchored in our mission statement and part of our self -image. We take this responsibility for the environment and society very seriously, the new photovoltaic system is therefore a clear sign of conscious action and another important component of our sustainability strategy. We are pleased to actively promote this sustainability with our partner Entega and also that the largest PV system in Darmstadt can now be found on the roofs of the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfall goal, ”says Michael Weilguny, Managing Director at SV Darmstadt 98 .
The facility is operated by Entega subsidiary Entega Naturpur AG, which initiated and financed the project. The sister company Energy Project Solutions GmbH was established. In addition, Entega Naturpur AG has been offering a citizen participation for her Darmstadt photovoltaic system at the Merck station at the Böllenfall goal since March 1, 2024. In this way, interested citizens can invest sustainably through a qualified subordinated loan with a fixed interest rate in the energy transition on site. Interested parties will receive all information on the citizen participation and drawing of the subordinated loan under BuergerGeitung.entega.de or by phone at service number 06151 493 8607 (Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.).
