Work should be completed by the end of September
Renovation work on the roof of the police station on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße has been underway since the beginning of July 2025. The goal is to permanently repair the aging building structure and prevent future water damage.
After vacuuming the gravel layer, demolishing the old roof structure and applying a new vapor barrier, which also acts as an emergency waterproofing, the new roof structure is currently being constructed.
The building, dating back to the 1960s, had suffered recurring damage in recent years. In addition to faulty pipes, this particularly affected the leaking flat roofs. Water damage occurred regularly. Since the roof membrane already had numerous cracks, spot repairs were no longer possible.
The project will cost approximately €200,000 . Since it involves energy-efficient renovations, it will be subsidized by up to 15 percent. Completion is scheduled for the end of September 2025.
Police station and other facilities in the building
The city of Griesheim acquired the police station building from the Darmstadt Savings Bank in the 2000s. Part of the building is leased to the state police. The city's social-educational cooperation office and the Griesheim city police are also located there.
