The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September
Since the beginning of July 2025, renovation work has been underway on the roof of the police station on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße. The aim is to permanently repair the aging building structure and prevent future water damage.
After the gravel layer was vacuumed up, the old roof structure demolished and a new vapor barrier applied, which also serves as a temporary seal, the new roof structure is currently being built.
The building, dating from the 1960s, had suffered recurring damage in recent years. Besides defective pipes, this particularly affected the leaking flat roof. Water damage occurred regularly. Since the roof membrane already had numerous cracks, spot repairs were no longer possible.
The project will cost approximately €200,000 . As it is an energy-efficient renovation, it will be subsidized with up to 15 percent of the costs. Completion is scheduled for the end of September 2025.
Police station and other facilities in the building
The city of Griesheim acquired the police station building from the Darmstadt Savings Bank in the 2000s. Part of it is leased to the state police. The city's social-pedagogical cooperation office and the Griesheim municipal police are also located there.
