Volunteers support care facility in Wolfskehlen – next repair appointment on November 22nd at the Old Town Hall in Crumstadt
Riedstadt-Wolfskehlen. Great joy at the Kinderinsel daycare center : Four new baby dolls with several outfits have recently arrived. The purchase was financed by the volunteer team of the Riedstadt Repair Café , which regularly supports social projects in the region with the proceeds from its donation box and coffee and cake sales.
“The baby dolls are beautifully crafted, with many lovely details like the newborn ribbons on their wrists,” said kindergarten director Sabine Gunst-Bühler , who Günter Kleinwächter and Matthias Wild from the Repair Café. Besides quality and features, diversity also played an important role: “An Asian child had complained that there weren’t any children with his appearance at our kindergarten,” Gunst-Bühler explained. Therefore, the donation was used to purchase two Asian dolls and one doll with dark skin – another is intended for the nursery.
The Repair Café operates under the motto "It might work again – too good to throw away ." Approximately every two months, residents can broken small appliances or toys to the Old Town Hall in Crumstadt , where volunteer repairers provide assistance with fixing them. The help for self-help is free of charge ; only replacement parts need to be paid for.
The next Repair Café – and the last one this year – will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025 , from 2 pm to 5 pm in the Old Town Hall of Crumstadt toys in need of repair can also be brought along.
