Förster-Heldmann: An important step for the region
The member of the state parliament Hildegard Förster-Heldmann welcomes the progress in planning the tram expansion from Griesheim to Riedstadt-Goddelau.
“An extension of the tram towards the west strengthens the networking of Darmstadt and Griesheim to the surrounding communities and enables a connection to the S-Bahn lines 6 and 7. This is an important contribution to a climate-friendly and socially just mobility in our region. "
Two years after the presentation of the feasibility study to extend the tram from Griesheim to Riedstadt-Goddelau, there is now a signature maturity for the implementation of a benefit-cost investigation (NKU). The costs of over 200,000 euros are borne by the Darmstadt-Dieburger local transport company (Dadina), the local transport company of the district of Groß-Gerau (LNVG) and the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV), as in the Dadina association meeting on 19 Was communicated in December 2024. The planned benefit-cost examination (NKU) will evaluate the economic benefits of the route. Advantages such as saved car trips, lower accident consequences and improvements in climate protection are taken into account.
"I am very happy about the progress in the possible expansion of the tram into the Ried," said Förster-Heldmann. “This not only promotes us in climate protection, but also ensures that people in the region are easier and better connected. Exactly such projects make local transport really attractive. "
