Mayor Kretschmann thanks Frank Schaffner and Carmen Funck for decades of commitment
Riedstadt. Mayor Marcus Kretschmann has bid farewell to two long-time employees who are retiring: Frank Schaffner, Deputy Head of the Public Safety and Order Department, and Carmen Funck, most recently responsible for cemetery administration in the Building Department. Both looked back on impressively long service – Schaffner with 46 years in public service, Funck with 48 years, all of which were spent in the administration of Riedstadt.
Frank Schaffner: 37 years in the service of the city
After completing his training at the Mühlheim Police Academy and subsequent service in the police force, Frank Schaffner joined the Riedstadt Municipal Public Order Office on April 1, 1988. From December 1, 2008, he served as deputy head of the Public Safety and Order Department until his retirement on September 30, 2025. Mayor Kretschmann praised his decades of commitment to the safety and well-being of the Riedstadt community.
Carmen Funck: 48 years of administrative experience
Carmen Funck began her training in the Riedstadt administration on September 1, 1977, and remained there until her retirement on August 31, 2025. She initially worked in the social services department before moving to the building department in 2005. There, she oversaw cemetery administration until her final assignment. Her career led her from entry into the higher civil service in 1979, through several promotions, to her appointment as senior inspector in 1990.
Mayor Kretschmann thanked both retirees for their decades of loyalty and wished them all the best for this new phase of their lives.
