Lennard-Oliver Spohner succeeds Michael Göbel – Forest management plan handed over
The town of Weiterstadt has introduced its new district forester: Lennard-Oliver Spohner succeeds Michael Göbel Braunshardt fir forest for many years . Around 15 guests from the community, politics, and administration braved the summer temperatures to attend the official introduction.
Handover of the forest management plan to Mayor Möller
During the event, Hartmut Müller , head of the forestry office, presented the current forest management plan to Mayor Ralf Möller . This plan serves as a medium-term planning basis for the next ten years. It defines goals and measures for the sustainable development of the city forest and takes stock of the past decade.
Michael Göbel then led the attendees on a tour through the Braunshardt fir forest. During the tour, he explained, among other things, the reforestation measures and the current situation of the cockchafer grubs , which will have a so-called "flight year" in 2026.

Mayor Möller praised Michael Göbel's commitment:
"We sincerely thank Mr. Göbel for his many years of dedication and his valuable work for our city forest. At the same time, we are delighted to have Mr. Spohner on board, who will shape the future of the Braunshardt fir forest with fresh energy and extensive expertise."
The city of Weiterstadt will continue to focus on responsible, sustainable forest management , in the interest of nature and climate protection as well as local recreation.
