Greenery and rainwater harvesting
The "From Grey to Green" project aims to transform formerly paved areas south of Heinrich-Heine-Straße and Oppenheimer Straße into green spaces . The goal is to channel rainwater into the new planting areas underground clay reservoirs and used for irrigation.
With these measures, the city is helping to mitigate the local effects of climate change – in particular by providing noticeable cooling during hot summer months and nights.
