Access to properties in Oppenheimer and Heinrich-Heine-Straße temporarily closed
On Oppenheimer Straße and in the western section of Heinrich-Heine-Straße (numbers 1 to 11), road construction work as part of the "From Gray to Green" is nearing completion. From October 14 to 20, asphalt work will be carried out to connect the streets to sidewalks and green spaces. During this time, access to and from private properties closed.
Affected residents have already been informed by letter and asked to park their vehicles outside the construction site from the evening of October 13 until October 20. Monday afternoon, October 20 .
The Büchnerstadt community of Riedstadt asks for your understanding for these temporary restrictions. After the asphalt work is completed, planting work will begin in mid-November , which is not expected to cause major traffic disruptions.
Greening and rainwater harvesting
The "From Gray to Green" project envisions transforming previously sealed areas south of Heinrich-Heine-Straße and Oppenheimer Straße into green spaces . The goal is to channel rainwater into the new planting areas underground clay water reservoirs and used for irrigation.
With these measures, the city is helping to mitigate the local effects of climate change – particularly through noticeable cooling during hot summer months and nights.
