Quiz champion sought: Woman from Goddelau competes against celebrities on ZDF – with a connection to her hometown
A contestant from Riedstadt-Goddelau is competing to become the "Quiz Champion" on ZDF – and is putting the Büchner House in the spotlight. A "federal state special" of the popular quiz show will air on ZDF on Saturday, March 22, from 8:15 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., and again on Saturday, March 29, from 8:15 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. The contestant from Riedstadt will be vying for the title and €100,000 in prize money.
After a rapid-fire round of questions, she competes against prominent experts in five fields of knowledge. Only the winner of all duels can advance to the final as quiz champion. If multiple candidates achieve this, a tiebreaker will take place in the grand final at the end of the second episode.
The candidate from Goddelau paid particular attention to her hometown – more precisely, to Georg Büchner's birthplace. In the introductory video introducing all the participants, she explicitly expressed her wish that the Büchner House in Goddelau be included in the TV presentation. A ZDF team was on location for filming.
"After almost two hours of filming on the grounds and inside the Büchner House, it remains to be seen how many seconds will actually be broadcast on ZDF," said Werner Schmidt, chairman of BüchnerFindetStatt eV – the association that runs the Büchner House – with a twinkle in his eye. Regardless of the length of the TV segment, the association is delighted with the nationwide attention: "This is fantastic publicity for the Büchner House and Riedstadt," Schmidt emphasized. "Of course, we're keeping our fingers crossed for the candidate from Goddelau!"
