Oppenheimer in the moral dilemma
The theater director of the Büchnerbühne Riedstadt Christian Suhr has been staging a play for the Stadttheater Aschaffenburg since January 2 on behalf of the Büchnerfindettatt association. An Ensemble, which is newly compiled across Germany, rehearses the spectacle "on the matter J. Robert Oppenheimer" by Heinar Kipphardt. The premiere took place on Saturday, January 25th in the Aschaffenburg City Theater. Cards for this are only available on the homepage of the city theater.
In the Leeheimen headquarters of the theater (Kirchstraße 16, Riedstadt-Leheim), two performances are scheduled Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1, each at 7:30 p.m. Theater maps for the two appointments in Riedstadt are in advance at various points in the surrounding area (bookstores Facto, Riedstadt and Bornhofen, Gernsheim, information office in the district office, flower shop Florales, Weidstraße 5 F, reception of the Riedstädter town hall, Büchnerhaus, Weidstraße 9, Goddelau) Or also available in the further region via Reservix.
Based on original documents, the piece addresses the hearings of the 1954 US atomic energy commission. The focus is on the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who, as head of the Manhattan project, had significantly promoted the development of the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer's loyalty is questioned by the Commission to the state, since he had contacts with Communists in the past and spoke out against the development of hydrogen bomb.
