No one was injured in the fire on Sunday morning – around 75 emergency personnel were on site.
A roof fire in Seeheim-Jugenheim triggered a major response from firefighters and rescue workers on Sunday morning (October 11, 2026). Around 8:40 a.m., the Seeheim and Jugenheim fire departments were alerted to a burning single-family home on "Im Raßdorf" street. All residents were able to leave the building in time. No one was injured.
When emergency services arrived, the roof was already engulfed in flames. The fire brigade was able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further. The subsequent mop-up operations lasted until midday, during which remaining hotspots had to be located and extinguished.
Roof fire: THW secures damaged residential building
As the operation progressed, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) from Pfungstadt was called in. A structural engineer assisted with the work on the damaged building. The THW also erected a temporary roof to protect the house from rain and other weather conditions. The Seeheim fire department's turntable ladder was also used in this effort.
On Sunday afternoon, the securing operation was still ongoing. A total of approximately 75 emergency personnel with 22 vehicles were involved. In addition to the Seeheim and Jugenheim fire departments, the THW (Federal Agency for Technical Relief) and the German Red Cross (DRK) from Pfungstadt, as well as the regular ambulance service, were on site.
Criminal police are investigating the cause of the fire
The affected detached house is currently uninhabitable after the fire. The residents have been able to stay temporarily with relatives.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. No information is available regarding the extent of the property damage. The Darmstadt Criminal Police are investigating.
