Church & Co. is asking for donations for needy children at the start of the school year
This year, the ecumenical church shop Kirche & Co. for support for families in financial need: From July 1st to 18th, 2025 , they will be well-preserved school backpacks and monetary donations . The aim of the campaign is to give children a good start to the school year – especially those from low-income households and refugee families.
Donations can be accepted Monday to Friday from 10 am to 1 pm , and Tuesday until 5 pm directly at Kirche & Co., An der Stadtkirche 1, Darmstadt .
Support for first-grade students
The distribution of the donated school bags will take place in cooperation with Diakonie, Caritas, daycare centers and church communities from August 4th to 15th, 2025. Thanks to the financial support of the Liridadi Foundation, under the auspices of the Diakonie Hessen Foundation , as well as private donations, first-graders will also receive a basic set of school supplies .
“The ‘School Backpack Campaign’ is a sign of solidarity and a contribution to the responsible use of resources,” explains Maren Dettmers, Protestant employee of the church shop. Andrea Bach, Catholic employee at Kirche & Co., adds: “The church shop looks forward to many donations and thanks everyone who supports this campaign.”
