Over 50 groups present initiatives and participation options on Luisenplatz
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, the science city of Darmstadt, together with the self-help office and the volunteer center, invites you to the Luisenplatz self-help and engagement From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 53 groups, clubs and initiatives present the broad spectrum of civic engagement in Darmstadt- from self-help and social projects to environmental and education topics.
The event offers personal conversations, exchange and concrete hands -on offers for people who want to get involved or find support. Mayor Barbara Akdeniz takes over the at 10 a.m. Nina Hollatz also addresses a greeting to the participants.
"The self-help and commitment day brings together people who stand up for others and invites everyone to become part of this strong network," emphasizes Mayor Akdeniz. "I am very pleased that we can show again this year how much solidarity and humanity is in our city."
Wide range of topics from health to sustainability
The information stands on Luisenplatz cover a variety of socially relevant areas- from self-help in diseases , mental health and addiction to hospice and dementia support to sustainability initiatives and offers for social participation . Interested parties can find out more about voluntary work or make new contacts on site.
Promotion and organization
The day of action is supported by the parity project gGmbH and funded by the statutory health insurance companies (GKV) , the community foundation Darmstadt , the Sparkasse Darmstadt , Entega and the city of science in Darmstadt .
