A week of “Mariandl” feeling: Passau, Danube, Regensburg & lots of music
The first senior citizen trip organized by the Büchnerstadt Riedstadt 2026 will take place from May 17–23 in the Bavarian Forest – to the music and wellness hotel "Mariandl – The Singing Innkeeper" in Elisabethszell. Volunteer organizer Walter Dörr has put together a diverse package: a panoramic tour through the Bavarian Forest, Passau with Veste Oberhaus and the cathedral concert (the world's largest church organ), plus a two-hour Danube cruise on a Swarovski crystal ship. Also planned: the Danube Gorge from Kelheim to Weltenburg , with a stop at the world's oldest monastery brewery, and the onward journey to Regensburg . Another excursion leads to Straubing . Those interested can experience the Maibrunn Forest Treetop Walk and the "Bayerwaldflieger" – a virtual sightseeing flight in a real airplane cockpit (optional, separate admission).
