Construction work between house numbers 102 and 140 will last approximately seven weeks
Work on the sewer line in Gernsheimer Straße in the Dornberg district of Groß-Gerau is expected to begin on Monday, February 16th. The affected section is between house numbers 102 and 140, opposite the pheasantry.
Construction work will begin at the southern end of the road near house number 140, in the direction of Berkach, and is expected to last approximately seven weeks. During this time, the road will be closed to through traffic. Cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to pass through the area.
Renewal of house connections
According to the Groß-Gerau municipal utilities, individual sewer connection lines between the main line and the property line are being renewed. This will not incur any costs for the property owners.
The work is being carried out using open-cut construction. For this, nine so-called access pits – smaller excavation pits – are opened one after the other and then filled with gravel. In a final step, all the access pits are paved together.
Access roads and waste collection
Access to the driveways will generally remain possible. Only when work is being carried out directly in front of a driveway will entry and exit be blocked for approximately three days. Properties can be accessed up to the respective construction site either via the driveway near house number 140 or via the main road by Dornberg Castle.
Due to the road closure, garbage collection cannot directly access properties. Collection will still take place on the usual dates. Garbage bins should be placed at the curb by 2 p.m. the day before collection. The construction company will transport them to central collection points at both ends of the affected section. Anyone placing their bins out later must take them to the collection point themselves. Clear labeling of the bins is recommended.
