Winter running series, Crystal Marathon and New Year's reception in Darmstadt
The triathlon department of SG Arheilgen has just returned from a weekend packed with sporting and social activities. In addition to competitions in Jügesheim and Merkers, the traditional New Year's reception was also on the agenda.
Winter running series in Jügesheim
On Saturday, February 7, 2026, Frauke and Michael Ostermann as well as Anke Werner took part in the winter running series in Jügesheim.
Despite a recent cold, Frauke Ostermann completed the 10-kilometer distance in 52:05 minutes. Michael Ostermann finished in 43:32 minutes. Anke Werner ran the course in 42:51 minutes, securing second place in the W50 age group.
Crystal Marathon in Merkers
On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Dagmar Backes and Axel Reinhardt participated in the 18th Crystal Marathon in Merkers. The unique course leads through a former mine at a depth of approximately 500 meters.
Participants could choose between a 42.9-kilometer course with 780 meters of elevation gain or a 23.1-kilometer course with 420 meters of elevation gain. Dagmar Backes completed the 23.1-kilometer course in 2:43:16 hours, achieving second place in the W60 age group. Axel Reinhardt finished in 2:15:35 hours.
New Year's reception with city tour
In addition to the sporting achievements, the triathlon department's traditional New Year's reception was on the agenda for Saturday evening. The event began with a guided tour of Darmstadt, during which "famous women from Darmstadt were brought to light.".
The evening event then took place in the Herrngarten Café. In addition to awards and program items, a buffet was offered to the members, their families, and the volunteers of the Mühlchen Triathlon. The evening concluded in the Martinsviertel district.
With this start, the triathlon department sees itself well prepared for the sporting year 2026.
