A musical journey to Jewish roots
As part of the Jewish Cultural Weeks Darmstadt, the Shani Oshri Trio on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Bessunger Knabenschule Cultural Center , combining classical music, Jewish traditions and personal stories.
Soprano Shani Oshri , accompanied by Keshet Seidel (oboe) and Guy Woodcock (guitar) , takes the audience on a fascinating musical journey: from German opera and song works to baroque masterpieces, Ladin psalms, Yemeni women's songs and Persian music .
Each piece is accompanied by a short introduction that illuminates the cultural and biographical backgrounds of the artists. Shani Oshri, who comes from a Yemeni-Persian family, combines classical vocal technique with neo-traditional oriental elements , reviving ancient Jewish vocal traditions. Together with her fellow musicians, she creates an evening that is both musically and emotionally moving.
